چکیده

The physics of graphene and of the superfluid phases of 3He have many common features. Both systems are topological materials where quasiparticles behave as relativistic massless (Weyl, Majorana or Dirac) fermions. We formulate the points where these features are overlapping. This will allow us to use graphene to study the properties of superfluid 3He, to use superfluid 3He to study the properties of graphene, and to use both of them in combination to study the physics of topological quantum vacuum. We suggest also some particular experiments with superfluid 3He using graphene as an atomically thin membrane impenetrable for He atoms but allowing for spin, momentum and energy transfer.

The effect of disorder in superfluid double layer graphene.

We investigate the superfluid properties of disordered double layer graphene systems using the non-equilibrium Green's function formalism. The complexity of such a structure makes it imperative to study the effects of lattice vacancies which will inevitably arise during fabrication. We present and compare room temperature performance characteristics for both ideal and disordered double layer gr...

Stationary waves in a superfluid exciton gas in quantum Hall bilayers.

Stationary waves in a superfluid magnetoexciton gas in ν = 1 quantum Hall bilayers are considered. The waves are induced by counterpropagating electrical currents that flow in a system with a point obstacle. It is shown that stationary waves can emerge only in imbalanced bilayers in a certain diapason of currents. It is found that the stationary wave pattern is modified qualitatively under a va...

Superfluid Helium-3: Universal Concepts for Condensed Matter and the Big Bang Dieter Vollhardt Center for Electronic Correlations and Magnetism, University of Augsburg Since their discovery in 1971 the superfluid phases of Helium-3 have proved to be the ideal testing ground for many fundamental concepts of modern physics. Phenomena such as triplet Cooper pairing, macroscopic quantum coherence, ...

Mini-symposium C3 Enhanced Spin-Orbit Coupling and Emergent Topological Phenomena in Graphene and Related Materials

We focus on describing the topological Weyl semimetal, this state is a three-dimensional analog of graphene with linearly dispersing excitations and provides a condensed-matter realization of Weyl fermions that obeys a two-component Dirac equation. It also exhibits remarkable topological properties manifested by surface states in the form of Fermi arcs, which are impossible to realize in purely...

Study of Stone-wales Defect on Elastic Properties of Single-layer Graphene Sheets by an Atomistic based Finite Element Model

In this paper, an atomistic based finite element model is developed to investigate the influence of topological defects on mechanical properties of graphene. The general in-plane stiffness matrix of the hexagonal network structure of graphene is found. Effective elastic modulus of a carbon ring is determined from the equivalence of molecular potential energy related to stretch and angular defor...
